From 1813-1969, thousands of Native American children were sent to boarding schools. The boarding schools' mission was to remove children from their families, eliminate their, culture, language, and teach them how to live as we do. Often the treatment and living conditions were substandard and punishment was harsh. The goal of this initiative is to uncover the untold stories. A study was begun in 2021 by various church denominations as well as community groups to research the boarding schools to locate schools and start the healing process.
